SUNGLASS LENS COLORS + LINGO

D•CURVE offers many NASTEK lens colors based on different light conditions. Each color filters light differently and offers unique advantages in certain weather and light conditions. The amount of light a sunglass lens allows to pass through is called Visible Light Transmission (VLT). VLT is expressed as percentage of light allowed through the lens, falling somewhere between 0% and 100%.

D•CURVE designs lenses that perform best in low light, low visibility situations, such as snow, fog and flat light. These lenses allow a higher percentage of VLT and come in light colors. D•CURVE delivers lenses that function best on sunny days with high visibility where it is more about keeping the light out. These lenses have a lower VLT percentage and come in dark colors, often mirrored. Of course, we offer lenses in the middle of the spectrum that perform great in all conditions and are perfect if you experience changing light conditions during the day.

Blue light is part of the visible light spectrum and is emitted by the sun. Some portions of blue light can be beneficial and help regulate our bodies’ internal biological clocks. However, blue light can have a harmful impact on the eyes. Since some forms of blue light are necessary, D•CURVE’s NASTEK lens coatings selectively block only the harmful portions of blue light, while allowing beneficial blue light to pass through, making the good rays safely enhance your vision by letting you see through the reflected colors that occur when light moves through air.
